Yanceyville, NC – It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Deacon Raymond McCoy Evans Sr. of 165 Evans Ln. Yanceyville, NC, who passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 in the Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC.
He was a native of Caswell County, NC, the son of the late Weldon Evans and Annie Walker Evans, born October 2, 1923. He was a faithful member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a trustee, chairman of the deacon board, Sunday school teacher and former usher.
Deacon Raymond was a dedicated and faithful employee of Fulton Funeral Home for over 40 years and he was a great carpenter and farmer.
Deacon Raymond was preceded in by one son, Christopher Evans; four brothers, Herman, Hunter, Cornelius, and Edgar; one sister, Barbara Evans Daniels.
His survivors are devoted loving wife, Christine Gunn Evans; two sons, Rev. Raymond Evans Jr. of Mt. Airy, NC and Gregory Evans of Baltimore, MD; four daughters, Barbara Evans, Annie Evans and Eva Evans all of Charlotte, NC and Tara Evans of McLeansville, NC; one brother, Roy Evans of Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Ida Evans Hightower and Pearl Evans Johnson both of Yanceyville, NC; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
