Eula Mae Graves, the daughter of the late Lindsey and Corina Johnson Allen, was born May 8, 1949 in Alamance County, North Carolina. On Sunday May 28, 2017, in her home in Yanceyville, North Carolina, Eula departed this earthly life at the age of 68 with her husband by her side.  She was the fourth daughter of eleven siblings. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister; William Allen, Frances Garrison, Frank, David, Peter, Richard and Jimmy Allen.

Eula, known by many as “Judy”, grew up on a farm and attended school in Alamance County. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Saviour and joined Patillo Christian Church (Burlington, NC) where she served on the junior usher board for many years.  As a young woman, she married William J. Graves, which resulted in a 50-year union with the love of her life.

“Judy” worked and lived her adult years in Greensboro, North Carolina where she and her husband raised four children. She was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church (Greensboro, NC) and served on the adult usher board until health reasons would no longer allow her to do so. After working for many years, Judy retired from Kmart Corporation. Retirement led Judy and William back to life on the farm in Yanceyville, North Carolina however, her health declined over the years.

“Judy” was a devoted wife, skillful cook, homemaker, and protective mother to her children. She lived many wonderful years enjoying life in her own way. She found relaxation in simple pleasures such as gardening, a variety of social games, traveling, and fishing. Judy took great pride in being a grandmother to her nine grandchildren. She believed in preserving family and helped those she cared for in various ways.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband William J. Graves of Yanceyville, NC; four children, Don Allen (Dee) Hartford, CT; Mavis O. Graves, William J. Graves (Melissa) and Sean A. Graves all of Greensboro, NC. Nine grandchildren, Terrence J. Graves (Ashley) Greensboro, NC; Lindsey G. Graves Seaside, CA; Jonathan T. Raynor, Taylor M. Graves, Mariah A. Graves, Joshua A. Graves, William J. Graves III, Christian I. Graves all of Greensboro, NC; Brooke A. Hairston, North Las Vegas, NV. Her siblings Ola Elizabeth Davis Cambria Heights, NY, Ruth A. Richardson and Larry D. Allen (Geraldine) of Greensboro, NC; brothers and sisters-in-laws: Irvin Graves (Mollie) Greensboro, NC; Julia Scott Graham, NC; Dennis Graves (Barbara) Colfax, NC; Robin Reynolds (Carl) Greensboro, NC; and Tina Lowe (Grayline) St. Louis, MO; a host of nieces, nephews and extended relatives and friends.
